New Practice Location

Hi there!

It has been awhile since I’ve had any significant news, as I’ve been focusing on school, and my Reiki practice took a bit of a smaller role in my life. As this semester is coming to a close and I feel more confident in my studies, I am excited to announce that I will be offering Reiki services again in Downtown Beverly!

So Far, So Good

Happy Fall–my 2 year old’s pumpkin masterpiece

Hi, long time no see!

I am 3 weeks into school, and so far I am loving every minute of it. Right before the semester started, I switched my major from Nutrition to Biology, because I felt like I would have more options if I stuck with something broader. Although it was an extremely last minute decision (I finalized everything the day classes started) it was the right one. The classes I am now taking are so much more appealing and interesting to me, and I am more excited about what the future can hold with a Biology degree. It usually pays to listen to your gut instincts.

One thing that has not had a smooth transition into my new school schedule, is my self-Reiki practice. I have always struggled with staying diligent with my self-Reiki, and these past few weeks have made it even harder to stay on track. It’s funny how taking care of ourselves often falls by the wayside just when we need it most!

Luckily, last week I managed to get focused enough to actually meditate and give myself Reiki two separate times, and after both sessions I felt like I had just woken from some deep and peaceful sleep. I was calm, I was relaxed, I was happy.

Why am I not doing this more?!

While THC was still on Cabot Street and I was teaching Reiki I, I always made sure to reiterate to my students how completely important their own personal practice is, and here I am not practicing what I preach. Take it from me when I say that even if you feel like you don’t have the time, or you just keep forgetting, or you have something better to do…   Make the time. Schedule yourself in your calendar so you will remember. Put your well being at the top of your list. You won’t regret it. Whether that means giving yourself Reiki, reading a book, taking a walk, or catching up on those episodes of Grey’s Anatomy you missed! Whatever your self-care looks like, make it a priority.

On that note, I will return to my homework and my screaming toddler. I hope you all enjoy your Autumns, and take care of yourselves!

Approaching Summer

I haven’t checked in in awhile. It seems like I suddenly had many things on my plate once Spring arrived, and I’ve been trying to catch up ever since!

After rearranging some things relating to childcare for my little curly-headed toddler, I have permanently moved the Reiki Share to the first Monday of each month, and the Reiki Clinic to the last Monday of each month. These were previously held on Tuesdays, and I’m hoping that those interested in either will still be able to participate despite the change!

Another new item at THC is the Book Club! We have already had a couple of meetings, and are on to our second book. We are currently reading The Life Intended by Kristin Harmel, and we meet once a month on Wednesdays. The next meeting date is TBA, so please email me if you’d like to join us!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know that after the end of this August I will no longer be renting the space at 83 Cabot Street. I am going back to school (finally!) this fall, and the time that I’ll have to dedicate to Reiki will be slim for awhile, so continuing to rent that fantastic space just won’t make sense. For established clients of mine, I will be offering home visits for Reiki sessions on a limited basis. I want to be able to keep doing what I love, even if it’s on a much smaller scale! After I have gotten some momentum going with my schooling and feel more confident in taking on a rented space again, I will do so and keep you all in the loop. Hopefully by then I’ll be able to find another amazing spot somewhere on Cabot or nearby.

On a lighter and more exciting note, Christine Eaton of The Mindful Gallery will be holding a great mini-retreat at The Healing Center on Sunday August 14th! Mark your calendars now; more details will follow. It should be a fun way to begin to wrap up the end of summer, and my time on Cabot.

Last but not least, the Spring Special I have going on ($10 off a private Reiki session through the end of Spring) will continue until I leave 83 Cabot at the end of August. My availability remains fairly flexible, so please email me to make an appointment if you’re in need of some Reiki!

That’s all I’ve got for now, so hopefully I’ll see some of you soon.

Take care of yourself!

Calling All Bookworms

I read. A lot. Reading, for me, can be an act of healing in and of itself. I learn something new with each book I finish, and whether it is a memoir, fiction, or trashy romance (yes, I have read Fifty Shades of Grey. Don’t give me that look, you probably have, too!), I can always count on a strong emotional response and sometimes even a positive boost in my mood or attitude. If I am having a hard day, I can always count on a good book to pull me out of it and change my perspective.

I started thinking about how, in addition to reading a great book, I also love sharing them with other people. I was part of a book club several years ago when I worked in a rehab hospital, and it was such a wonderful experience! The camaraderie, the fun, the snacks…

Above all, it made me happy.

So in an attempt to find others who are seeking a group in which to discuss great books, make a few new friends, and enjoy some tasty treats, I figured I should just start my own book club at The Healing Center. What could be more healing than sharing your passion with like minded individuals and potentially eating dessert items at the same time? I don’t know, either.

If are interested, please let me know! I would love to get an idea of how many (if any) of you would be willing to partake in this, and then set a date for a meeting to decide on the first book! After that, we would meet once a month. Email me, and we will get the ball rolling.

Student Reiki Clinic

This month’s clinic will be held Tuesday, March 22nd. Appointments are available at 6:15pm and 6:55pm for clients to enjoy a relaxing 30 minute Reiki session at the discounted price of $20! The clinic is is staffed by Reiki students-in-training (or already certified practitioners looking to gain more experience/help out), who work together as a team to maximize the healing you receive. If you are interested in booking an appointment, OR if you are a student or practitioner looking to participate to, please click here

Private Reiki Sessions

I am available for 30 minute ($30) and 60 minute ($60) private sessions by appointment 7 days a week! Email me to set up an appointment.

Take care of yourself!

Surviving Infidelity (& winter)

Happy New Year!

Winter has always been a difficult season for me. The frigid weather, the snow, the daytime hours seeming to be over before they’ve even really begun. In fact, several years ago I actually moved to California in hopes of escaping the “winter blues” I always seemed to get afflicted with year after year. It didn’t help! I moved back to Massachusetts after just a year on the west coast.

This year is especially difficult for me. I had briefly mentioned in an introductory newsletter that I came to own The Healing Center after a very traumatic event in my life. That event was my discovery of my husband’s infidelity. There are a few hundred subscribers on this mailing list, and statistics show me that many of you have likely been in this position before in some form. To those of you that have: I understand. To say it is life altering is an understatement of unimaginable proportions.

This year, in addition to my usual burden of dealing with low energy and positivity as result of the season, I am also tasked with searching for emotions and qualities within myself to assist me in my journey of recovery. Seeking out acceptance, optimism, compassion, confidence, and independence (for starters) has been the very opposite of an easy endeavor…but I have been succeeding. I have spent countless hours the past few months looking inward and allowing myself the time it is taking to accept that this event in my life does not define me.

I read somewhere once that sometimes we are taken into troubled waters not to drown, but to be cleansed. I truly believe that. During many meditations I have sat with the idea that I am the one, the ONLY one, with the power when it comes to my thoughts and feelings. Is this idea easier said than done? Of course! But it is also true. I alone have the power to choose to be happy, to choose what defines me, and to choose how I let outside factors affect me. So this winter, and in this new year, I am attempting to put those words into action. I am attempting to find myself cleansed and renewed from this—both my personal trauma, and the desolation of winter. Will I still have hard days? Will I still desperately miss the warm sunshine and green foliage? Will I still struggle to get out of bed some mornings? Yes, yes, and yes. But I am still trying, because my happiness will always be worth all the energy I have within me to supply to it.

If you have suffered (but survived!) through infidelity in your life, please take advantage of my offer of half off of a private Reiki session for you during the entire month of January ($15 for 30 minutes, $30 for 60 minutes.) Email me at to set up an appointment. or call 978-338-5571. The path to healing is paved with patience, introspection, and most importantly: self-care.

To quote Robert Frost, since his last name and these words feel so appropriate here and now: “The best way out is always through.”

Winter Offerings

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who donated items to the family that was designated to The Healing Center for the Adopt-a-Family program through Beverly Bootstraps. Over $200 worth of items were donated to the family! Hopefully their holiday will be a little brighter as a result.

This winter The Healing Center has some exciting offerings! Joanna Scaparotti gets things started with her mini-retreat at the end of the month, and January marks the beginning of the monthly Reiki share, the first Reiki 1 course of the year, and a new weekly open meditation. Come take advantage of these great opportunities to learn, recharge, and renew yourself!

Recover from the Holidays
Mini Retreat on Dec 27th with Joanna Scaparotti

Give yourself some TLC! Does the holiday season feel stressful, exhausting, overwhelming? Do you end up feeling run down when it’s over? This time of year can be so tough physically and emotionally. The days are short, and the nights are long and dark. We’re often very busy with commitments and shopping, and we end up exhausted, drained, or run down. Be kind to yourself. Join Joanna Scaparotti for a mini-retreat to recenter and recharge before the new year. The retreat will include hot tea and light refreshments, a soothing guided meditation, Reiki, and the opportunity to reconnect with yourself. Bring a journal and wear comfy clothes. Sunday December 27th 5-7pm. Registration: $20. Open to all. At The Healing Center’s new location: 83 Cabot Street! RSVP to

Starting in January 2016, join us every first Tuesday of the month, 6:00pm-7:30pm for a Reiki share! Reiki practitioners of all levels and lineages are welcome. Come share and receive some Reiki, enjoy the positive company of others, and start your month off in a relaxing and centered way. For more information, contact Katherine.

Are you interested in learning more about the healing energy work of Reiki, and incorporating it into your life?
This first level course teaches the history and principles of Reiki, and focuses on self-care as well as giving Reiki to others (including people, places, pets, even plants!). You will learn the benefits Reiki has to offer, discover how to apply them to your own life, and acquire the ability to facilitate your own spiritual and personal growth.
Reiki 1 is taught in a weekly 60 minute class, over the period of 6 weeks on Sundays. Cost is $165, to be paid in full at the first class. (Please inquire about a payment plan if needed!) The next class starts in January 2016: All classes are held 1:00pm-2:00pm
1/3, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7

Open Meditation

Starting in January, The Healing Center will be open every Thursday 7:00pm-8:00pm for an open meditation. Anyone is welcome to come on these designated nights and enjoy the safe, warm, and inviting space to practice their own self-meditation. Quiet, calming music will be played, and water and mats will be available if you do not bring your own. Come for the full hour, or stay for 10 minutes! Cost is $5 (and optional but encouraged item to donate to the food pantry.) Please RSVP to Katherine before each meditation, as a greater number of attendees will require setup and use of the larger space within THC.

In addition to these great offerings, private Reiki sessions are always available as well! Please email me at to set up an appointment for your personalized 30 or 60 minute session. I hope to see many of you in the new year!

Enjoy your holidays!

Open House!

Come stop by!

On Monday, November 30th 5:30pm-7:00pm The Healing Center will be hosting an Open House. Everyone is welcome to come and get familiar with the new location (83 Cabot Street in Beverly), enjoy some light refreshments, get information on upcoming offerings including a Reiki level 1 class, Reiki share, and a mini-retreat held by Joanna Scaparotti in December. This is also a great opportunity to drop off any items you would like to donate to the Adopt-a-Family. The deadline for donations is December 1st; you still have time to help contribute to this local family in need!

Winter and the holidays are fast approaching, and stress is usually not far behind. Be sure to make the time to take care of you. Make an appointment for a private Reiki session, relax, meditate, breathe. I hope to see many of you at the open house. Enjoy this beautiful day, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

In keeping with Joanna’s generous lead the past few years, The Healing Center has signed up for the Adopt-a-Family program through Beverly Bootstraps again! This year it is a family with 3 young boys, their bio is below (names have been changed for privacy):
FAMILY BIOGRAPHY: Kathy and her husband are doing the best to raise their three children on a limited income. Her husband works full time while Kathy is currently home with their youngest child. David is 11 and in the 5th grade. He loves history, Legos, and playing video games. He loves any sort of brain building games. He is a size 14 in boy’s clothing and a size 4 boy shoe. He could really use winter boots. Andy is 9 and in the 3rd grade. He loves Legos, playing videogames, playing baseball, and any sort of games where he has to look and find things (like Where’s Waldo). He is a size 12 in boy’s clothing and a size 3 boy’s shoe. He could use some long sleeve shirts. Aaron is 1 1⁄2. He loves Jack and the Neverland Pirate, all Disney movies, and Doc McStuffins. He loves anything to do with pirates! He is a size 2T in clothing. All the boys could also use a hat and gloves for this winter. The family thanks you for your generosity this holiday season.
In addition to what has been mentioned in the bio, I am hoping to be able to gather some wrapping supplies (wrapping paper/gift bags, tape, etc.) as well as some grocery store and/or restaurant gift cards for the mom and dad like Joanna has done in the past. If you are interested in contributing anything to this family, please let me know! You can email me at I’d like to have everything ready to donate by December 1st at the latest. Thank you!

Enjoy your week, everyone!

Autumn Happenings

From 10/25/15:

Hello friends,

I just wanted to send a quick update on some exciting Autumn happenings! The picture above was taken by me at Walden Pond last week. It was the perfect place to be to achieve some much needed peace and serenity. If you have never been, you should consider taking the drive down there and experiencing just how calm nature truly can be. I was born and raised in Massachusetts, and I think I often forget how beautiful it is here, especially this time of year.

Aside from my mini trip to Walden, I wanted to let you all know that the lovely Christine Eaton of The Mindful Gallery will be holding a Mindful Reiki class at The Healing Center that begins October 26th. The basic details are below, and can also be found on her website as well as The Healing Center’s.

When: Mondays 10/26, 11/9, 11/23 (Required) and Mondays 11/2, 11/16 (Optional, but highly encouraged – See below)
Cost: You choose what you can afford $80, $100, or $120. Includes cost of class and share on 11/2 & 11/16
Location: The Healing Center 83 Cabot Street, Beverly

Enjoy your week!

From 10/5/2015:

Nice to meet you!

For those that are not already aware, I have taken over the reigns of The Healing Center from Joanna. I am so happy to announce that THC will remain in Beverly, at 83 Cabot Street. Within the next couple of weeks I will be planning a casual “open house” event to allow everyone to stop by and see the space, become familiar with it’s new location, and hopefully leave/pick up a little positive energy there. I want to briefly share how this wonderful place came to be mine.

On August 10th of this year, my world as I knew it changed. I learned something that altered my life in endless ways. It was only a few hours into that emotional trauma that I was suddenly overcome with thoughts of The Healing Center, and whether or not Joannawas still trying to find a buyer. I decided to follow where my mind led me. I contacted Joanna via email and waited to hear that she had already sold it, or changed her mind, or something else that would force me to forget about the whole thing. Instead, she informed me that her original buyer had fallen through, leaving The Healing Center still available. From there I began the journey into business ownership.

This incredible opportunity presented itself to me at a time when I truly needed to finally focus my energy elsewhere: somewhere that would benefit others and help me heal in the process. I hope to offer the same gentle presence and positivity that Joanna maintained these past several years. This is the beginning of a new era for both The Healing Center and myself, and I look forward to sharing my experiences and learning from all of you along the way.

I so appreciate the patience granted to me as I continue to update the website and other social media sites. Please stay tuned for information about other offerings and practitioners that are soon to come!
