Phoenix began her love of belly dance in 1999 at an event called Starwood Festival in Sherman, NY. It was there, during a magical week-long festival, that she was introduced to the world of belly dance through a workshop that she had taken. Upon returning to Massachusetts she joined a nearby class with beautiful dancer Jennifer Sears, and was hooked. From there she went on to take private classes with Maia of Salem, NH and group classes with Naharin of Bradford, MA. Her love of the dance became more and more intense and she began attending any workshop and event that she could possibly find in the area.
Over the course of the past 15 years, Phoenix has had the pleasure of learning (through classes and workshops) from well known dancers throughout the New England area and much of the US. From traditional bellydance to tribal fusion to gothic fusion, Phoenix has sampled it all and has fallen in love with a variety of aspects of each style of dance. As an instructor, she has taught throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, and North Carolina. She has also held the position of artistic director of several dance troupes including Primal Redemption: Bellydance Evolution, Moriquendi, and Troupe Moirae.
After taking a year off from actively teaching and performing, Phoenix has reignited her love of the dance upon returning home to Massachusetts, and we are excited to have her teach here at The Healing Center!
